RICHARD’S STORY:

“Resurrecting a 12-year old dream.”
His response to the Keynote Address

Dear Dr. Barro,

Thanks very much for sharing your insight with us at Texas LEAD.  I enjoyed your discussion very much.

The main benefit for me was that your presentation helped me resurrect a latent dream I have had for many years—becoming a college professor.  Applying the thought process you shared and the questions you asked the volunteer participants during your discussion helped me think about my own personal goals.

So, right after your presentation, I approached one of the morning panelists—Phil Sanchez III, Director, Executive MBA program at Baylor University—to talk about this topic and we had a very positive conversation.  Sure, going to a PhD program is more complex now with my family responsibilities, than 12 years ago when I was in the MBA program and a little bit younger and single.  However, with the support of my family, careful planning, and a lot of passion, the dream can become a reality.

Once again, thank you very much for sharing your thoughts at Texas LEAD.  I will let you know what happens with my goals.  I look forward to having you as a guest in a future Texas LEAD or another NSHMBA/NBMBAA sponsored event.

Best regards,

Richard
